Matthew has represented hundreds of individuals in postconviction, appellate, habeas, and civil rights matters. Amongst other things, he has overturned multiple homicide convictions, gotten his clients' pleas withdrawn, secured new sentencing hearings, and obtained significant monetary awards for clients' whose rights have been violated.
Matthew routinely gives educational talks to lawyers, law students, and the public about criminal appeals and the processes involved.
On multiple occasions, Matthew has been invited by other lawyers to represent individuals or organizations before the Wisconsin Supreme Court in criminal cases.
Matthew has been repeatedly selected by his peers to be ranked among Wisconsin's Super Lawyers. He has received a "Top Attorney" rating from Avvo.com, an online company that helps people make the best decisions for their important legal needs.
Prior to becoming a practicing lawyer, Matthew worked as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Patricio M. Serna (ret.) of the New Mexico Supreme Court.
